Resource Mobilization

FAO’s programme of work can only be implemented thanks to our generous resource partners who finance and support the Organization in leading global efforts to improve and transform our global food systems and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Voluntary contributions offer distinct opportunities for all Members of FAO to get actively involved in accelerating the achievement of the SDGs. Such voluntary contributions (which are made in addition to obligatory assessed contributions) are crucial to overall organizational and programme effectiveness, as they account for almost 70% of FAO’s budget.

In this context, FAO offers a wide range of partnership modalities that directly support the SDGs, in particular pooled multi-partner funding mechanisms that are designed to maximize speed, efficiency, innovation and results on the ground.
