Food Loss and Waste Reduction in Europe and Central Asia

The Project “Reduction of Food Loss and Waste in Central Asia, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye” concluded with the presentation of the national strategies for food loss and waste reduction

FAO in Europe and Central Asia implements a comprehensive food loss and waste reduction programme.

At the regional level, the programme is designed to promote knowledge, solutions and good practices for food loss and waste reduction, build capacity of food value chain actors and other interest groups, and facilitate collaboraiton and joined action.

At national level, the programme supports countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia in developing and implementing national strategies to reduce FLW, adjusted to the specific needs in each country and existing relevant national strategies on agricultural development, food security, climate change mitigation, etc.
