Global Action on Pollination Services for Sustainable Agriculture

Pollinators and Sustainable Pesticide Use – Self-paced Online Course

13/06/2025

Offered asynchronously via FAO Campus, this self-paced course introduces participants across Latin America and the Caribbean to the link between pollinator protection and responsible pesticide use. Structured in flexible modules, the course allows learners to study at their own rhythm while building practical knowledge on an issue critical to both food security and environmental health.

Participants explore how pollinators contribute to food production and ecosystem balance, and why their populations are in decline—highlighting the role of pesticide misuse. The course provides guidance on sustainable pest management strategies, including Integrated Pest and Pollinator Management (IPPM) and non-chemical alternatives.

With five hours of content available in Spanish, this training is open to farmers, agricultural workers, and anyone interested in sustainable agriculture. By raising awareness of pollinator-friendly practices, the course supports the goals of FAO’s Better Production (BP3) agenda and the One Health approach.
