Vision for the future: transition to digital agriculture
Digital technologies impact the entire food system, everyone involved, and bring significant benefits to agriculture. They empower farmers to access information, markets, and finance, unlocking economic and employment opportunities and increasing efficiency and transparency across value chains.
While digital technologies can bring a significant contribution to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, they also pose economic, social, and ethical challenges, with particular regard to the responsible use of data. Governments can play a critical role in creating the enabling environment for technologies to flourish in agriculture.
Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the “Vision for the Future: Transition to Digital Agriculture” conference will bring together various stakeholders to share global experiences, visions, and developments in the area of agricultural and digital rural transformation. It will present the Azerbaijani e-agriculture model and will foster the debate to identify sustainable and inclusive pathways to accelerate the digital transformation of agrifood systems.
