FAO is acting in response to a Government request for technical support to help mitigate the impact of desert locust. The Government has also clearly identified that the management of invasive and transboundary pest is one of the priority areas that have to be addressed in an effort to improve the food security situation in the country. This project will therefore contribute also to the overall food security and livelihoods strategy of the Federal Government of Somalia.
