Pictures are taken from a village near Gambogl, Simbu Province, in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. This area is classified as category 3 (out of 5) in relation to severity of the drought caused by El Niño.
Pictures were taken during a workshop with farmers on drought adaptation techniques (e.g. irrigation techniques, etc.) organized by Oxfam in coordination with a local NGO KGWan. FAO is planning to expand this type of drought adaptation trainings more widely in the affected areas.
