Dangarandove Community Garden – Women making a difference

Oct 2014

In Dangarandove - a dry, thorny, remote village about 200 km south of Zimbabwe’s capital Harare, Florence Murairwa, a mother of 5, is an innovative woman who values nutrition and food security for her family. Florence is leading a group of like-minded women in successfully transforming an abandoned piece of land into a lucrative garden that supplies fresh vegetables, to villages and towns, ever as far as Harare.

Through a project being run by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development and with the financial and technical support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the European Union (EU), these women vegetable farmers have expanded their gardens and assets.
