The General Assembly has recognized the negative impact of climate change on food security. In its resolution 71/191 on the right to food, it highlighted the importance of designing and implementing actions to reduce the adverse effects of climate change (para. 39). In its resolution 37/10, the Human Rights Council also indicated that climate change was a threat to the right to food.80 per cent of disasters in recent years have been climate change-related extreme weather events, which have severely hit food insecure countries
