Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development and Youth2030
FAO has been a member of the United Nations Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development (IANYD) since 2012. The Network brings together UN entities whose work is relevant to youth issues and it advocates for, supports, and reviews progress on the implementation of UN Resolutions, Conventions and other internationally agreed development goals that are youth-related.
An important activity of the IANYD members is the implementation of Youth2030, the UN Youth Strategy, while also promoting programmes undertaken jointly by UN entities and highlighting successful initiatives in order to encourage future partnerships.
Youth2030 acts as an umbrella framework which guides the United Nations and its partners to work meaningfully with and for young people around the world. It is structured around three pillars – peace and security, human rights, and sustainable development – and seeks to significantly strengthen the United Nations’ capacity to engage young people and benefit from their views, insights and ideas. It also ensures that all UN work on youth-related issues is pursued in a coordinated, coherent and holistic manner.
The Strategy aims to catalyse global, regional and country-level action to address the needs, build the agency, and advance the rights of young people in all their diversity around the world, while ensuring their engagement in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
