The FAO Chief Scientist Ismahane Elouafi invites you to the SIF 2023!

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is organizing the FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2023 (SIF 2023), which will take place from 16 to 20 October 2023 in a hybrid mode, at the Headquarters of FAO in Rome, Italy, and virtually.

SIF 2023 builds on the success of SIF 2022.

FAO SIF 2023 theme

This year's theme of the FAO SIF will be “Science and Innovation for Climate Action”, aligned with the overarching World Food Forum (WFF) theme “Agrifood systems transformation accelerates climate action”.

FAO SIF 2023 will focus on enhancing the accessibility of the most appropriate climate technologies, innovative practices and local knowledge in agrifood systems for climate change adaptation, resilience and mitigation. It will allow a more focused and strategic debate on how science, technology and innovation affect vulnerability, impact and capacities, and are essential to transform agrifood systems and boost climate action.

FAO SIF 2023 will facilitate sharing experiences and lessons learned on implementing concrete solutions on the ground to step up climate action, supporting Members to accelerate efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the FAO Four Betters, leaving no one behind.

If you have any questions, please refer to the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).

In the context of the Science and Innovation Forum 2023, a new Call for Submissions has been launched through the Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN Forum) that invites stakeholders to share illustrative country level case studies of agrifood system technologies and innovations for climate action.

Following a review and selection of the submissions, the most impactful, innovative and relevant case studies will be showcased at SIF 2023 and participants will be invited to present them in October 2023.

The call is now closed.
