SHARP+ is a customizable digital survey that assesses the climate resilience of farmers and pastoralists, through an easy-to-use tablet and mobile application. Based on a modular approach, it includes questions related to critical aspects of the household and farm system covering environment, social, economic, institutional, behavioural, and organizational factors, to assess in an integrated and holistic manner all aspects of the farming system.
The tool serves as both an assessment and a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tool, helping to identify areas of poor resilience, establish a baseline for guiding intervention, pinpoint aspects of the agroecosystem in need of support, and inform project design. Additionally, it facilitates the monitoring and evaluation of farming household’s resilience and adaptive capacities.
Since its development by FAO in 2014, the SHARP+ tool has proven its robustness, relevance and adaptability, being applied in more than 75 projects across 45 countries in all continents. It is trusted by governments, NGOs, academia, and FAO offices to assess and strengthen the resilience of farming households around the world.
