FAO Sierra Leone works through a broad network of partners spanning national government institutions, international donors, UN and regional bodies, research institutions, and civil society. At the national level, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is FAO's lead government counterpart, alongside ministries responsible for fisheries, environment, and national statistics. FAO's programmes are financed and co-implemented with resource partners such as the European Union, USAID, the World Bank, and bilateral partners including China and Viet Nam through South-South Cooperation. FAO also collaborates closely with fellow UN agencies such as WHO and WFP, and with regional bodies like the Mano River Union, on shared priorities including food security, One Health, and resilience. Research and academic institutions, including Njala University and the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute, support evidence-based programming, while NGOs, civil society organizations, and farmer and producer associations help extend FAO's reach into communities across the country.
