Soil Carbon Sequestration: for Climate, Food Security and Ecosystem Services

The conference objectives are to

Highlight the potential of SOC sequestration as a key option in mitigating climate change, and how this can benefit ecosystem functioning, food security, and human societies

Review the state of science and identify knowledge gaps. Among topics to be discussed are land use and land restoration practices that increase SOC, how to verify C sequestration and linkages with UN - FCCC and post - Kyoto goals.

To identify tools and policies for enhancing SOC sequestration, analyse incentives and disincentives, and recommend further steps.

To recommend means to bridge the gap between science, policy and action in restoring SOC for multiple benefits.
