The farmed Nile tilapia value chain in Zimbabwe - Analysis and design report

2026

This report presents the findings of an analysis of the farmed Nile tilapia value chain in Zimbabwe conducted between 2021 and 2022 using the FISH4ACP methodology. It includes four main components: functional analysis, sustainability assessment, upgrading strategy development, and implementation planning. The upgrading strategy aims to enhance small-scale fish farm productivity by improving access to quality inputs such as fingerlings and feed, strengthening technical and business skills, expanding access to support services, and improving market linkages. It also seeks to promote investment in aquaculture by streamlining the regulatory framework and ensuring compliance with environmental standards, while increasing the participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups across the value chain.
