Nabil Gangi, a national of Canada, has a background in engineering (Ain Shams University in Cairo), project and financial management (American University of Cairo) and business administration (Henley Management College and Brunel University in the United Kingdom).
Before being appointed as Deputy Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia and Secretary of its Regional Conference, Nabil held the same post in FAO’s Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa in Cairo, his city of birth. Prior to that, he headed the Organization’s Shared Services Centre in Budapest, providing support to FAO’s essential administrative operations, including human resources, financial services, and asset and travel management.
During his 25 year career with FAO, Nabil has assumed increasingly senior-level positions including in FAO’s headquarters in Rome where he successfully managed staff-related benefits, particularly in the area of pensions and social security for the Rome-based UN agencies. More recently, in addition to his role as Deputy Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia, Nabil heads the FAO offices in four Western Balkan countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia.
Before joining the United Nations, Nabil gained wide experience in the humanitarian development field through senior management positions with multilateral and non-governmental organizations. This work included managing development programmes and projects funded by leading donors such as the European Union and the United States Agency for International Development, among others.
Throughout his career in international development Nabil has travelled extensively leading several organizational development missions in more than 25 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America.
FAO Assistant Representative in Türkiye
Dr. Ayşegül Selışık has been serving as the Assistant FAO Representative in Türkiye since 2009, bringing over 25 years of experience in agricultural economics, rural development, and international cooperation.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering with a focus on Dairy Technology from Ankara University. She also earned Master's degrees in Food Technology from Cumhuriyet University and in Marketing and Product Management from Cranfield University. Additionally, she holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Ankara University.
Before joining FAO, Dr. Selışık worked with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, where she coordinated Türkiye’s EU accession processes in agriculture. With a strong background in sustainable agriculture and food systems, she has played a pivotal role in shaping Türkiye’s policy frameworks, including the FAO Country Programming Framework and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
