Projects
Over the period, FAO has supported Uganda’s agriculture sector through projects and programmes for climate-smart crop and livestock production, crop and animal health, and sustainable land use. Climate resilience is strengthened through ecosystem restoration and improved access to water. Projects executed addressed gender equality and youth empowerment via Farmer Field Schools and savings groups. Forestry interventions under the Sawlog Production Grant Scheme, as well as fisheries and aquaculture initiatives, enhance livelihoods and nutrition. In refugee-hosting areas, projects cover inclusive value chains and energy-saving technologies for cooking. Through the South-South Cooperation Programme, Uganda gains innovative solutions from other developing nations to build resilience and inclusive rural communities across various value chains. Policy support has centred on agri-food systems transformation.
