Plans to establish a national farm observatory

The Government of Costa Rica has signalled its interest in promoting rural development from a territorial perspective and has started to develop programmes accordingly. Costa Rica is also leading the international initiative that prompted the UN General Assembly to declare 2019-2028 the Decade of Family Farming. To capitalize on this momentum, WAW is in talks with the Observatory of Development (Observatorio del Desarrollo) of the University of Costa Rica and other stakeholders (Mesa Campesina and the Ministry of Agriculture) to establish a national farm observatory using the WAW Framework.
