The file must be in GIF, JPG or PNG format. Maximum allowable file size is 2MB.

By submitting entries to the Contest, the Entrant confirms that the rules for the Competition, including the General Rules, Copyright and Privacy have been read, understood, and agreed to by the Entrant.

Key Rules

Eligibility: Open to children and youth aged 5 to 19, with parental consent required for minors.

Categories: Divided into 4 age groups: 5 to 8, 9 to 12, 13 to 15, and 16 to 19.

Submission Limits: Only one entry per person is allowed; multiple entries lead to disqualification.

Format & Technique: Posters can be hand-drawn, painted, or digitally created. No photographs of people are permitted.

AI Policy: Generative AI tools (e.g., Midjourney, DALL-E) are prohibited for creating the artwork itself, though they may be used for brainstorming or editing, provided this is disclosed.

Content & Text: The design must align with the specified annual theme (e.g., "Right to foods for a better life and a better future"). Text, if included, must be minimal (maximum 25 words or 100 characters).

Prizes and Recognition:

A jury selects winners in each category, who are announced on the FAO website.
Winners receive a certificate, a surprise gift bag, and promotion by FAO offices worldwide.

Rules and Conditions

Participants may not submit any entries which include content generated by any generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool, including but not limited to photorealistic imagery, graphics or other artistic media. Participants are allowed to use AI  technology for ideation or editing purposes. Whenever a participant uses AI technology for these or any other purposes, they shall disclose how such technology was specifically used. Should AI have been used in a way that is not compliant with these rules, FAO reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify the entry from the competition.
