FOOD SECURITY AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Food security and climate change are closely connected. Climate change is affecting the way food is produced, distributed and accessed around the world. Rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns, droughts, floods and other extreme weather events can reduce crop yields, threaten livestock, damage fisheries and make it harder for communities to access nutritious food. At the same time, the way food is produced can also contribute to climate change, making it important to find solutions that support both people and the planet.

While earning the Food Security and Climate Change Challenge Badge, you will explore the links between climate change and food security and discover how they affect communities around the world. You will learn about the challenges facing farmers, fishers and food systems, as well as the actions that can help build resilience and reduce environmental impacts. You will also explore sustainable agricultural practices, climate-smart solutions and the role that individuals, communities and young people can play in creating more sustainable and resilient food systems. Get involved and find out how YOU can help ensure a healthy planet and a food-secure future for all!
