Harnessing biodiversity for sustainable agriculture in a changing world - options and challenges on the way to Cancun (Convention on Biological Diversity – COP13)

Monday 26 September, 17:45–19:15, Iran Room

About the event: Agriculture and biodiversity are inextricably linked. Agricultural production depends on the diversity of crops and livestock as well as pollinators and soil biodiversity. Over generations, farmers have contributed to this diversity, but conversion of land and some agricultural practices threaten biodiversity. How can we protect biodiversity and harness it to support increased agricultural production for food security, climate adaption and other goals? CBD COP13 will address these issues.
