Side event #4
Promoting an International Year of Plant Health in 2020
Tuesday 27 September, 18:00–19:30, Iran Room
About the event: The spread of pests into new areas is limiting agricultural production and hindering environmental protection, affecting food security, poverty alleviation, biosecurity and trade aspirations. National, regional and international plant health programmes need urgent intensification to keep up with the increased pest pressure. An International Year of Plant Health would rally public support to improve plant health systems and help address issues of global concern, including hunger, poverty and threats to the environment.
