International Conference on Agricultural Statistics VI

23-25 October 2013, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The Sixth International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS-VI), conducted under the auspices of the ISI Committee on Agricultural Statistics is hosted by the Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

The conference will convene senior agricultural statisticians from all over the world, mainly representatives from national statistical offices and ministries of agriculture. The conference is open to all producers, suppliers, trainers and users of agricultural statistics, such as economists, statisticians, researchers, analysts and decision-makers from government entities, the academia, development partners and international organizations. It is as well open to the private sector, including the business community.

The Organizing Committee of ICAS-VI is chaired by the IBGE, while the Scientific Program Committee is co-chaired by the IBGE and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The theme of the conference is “Improving Statistics for Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, and Rural Development. Linking statistics with decision making”.

Before the Conference, USDA will organize two-day training sessions for young statisticians from developing countries. More detailed information about the conference, including  list of sessions, can be found at the conference website.
