Global assessment of trees, forests and land use in drylands (2016)

The first global assessment of trees, forests and land use in drylands was carried out in 2015, using the Open Foris Collect Earth software tool for visual interpretation of about 213000 sample plots. The interpretation was carried out in collaboration with universities, research institutes, governments and non-governmental institutions worldwide. The Collect Earth tool can access and display high-resolution images from Google Earth and Bing Maps and it communicates with Google Earth Engine, allowing for immediate access to the Landsat and Modis image archive. For more information on Collect Earth, and other Open Foris tools please visit www.openforis.org.
