Foodcrops and Shortages, and Food Supply Situation and Crop Prospects in sub-Saharan Africa (Africa Report), will henceforth be consolidated into a new publication, Crop Prospects and Food Situation, which will be issued in four languages and print as well as electronic format, six times per year. In addition to a short global cereal supply and demand brief, the new publication will continue to provide regional cereal balances and overviews of the food security situation, including a list of countries in crisis requiring external assistance. It will also contain tables on the cereal import position of low-income food deficit countries, as well as timely special features. To allow for more frequent updates, the country-by-country assessments of food security previously presented in Foodcrops and Shortages will henceforth be found in the Workstation, accessible through the GIEWS web site. For the same reason, the fifty pages of country-specific statistics on cereal supply and demand balances, previously included in Food Supply Situation and Crop Prospects in sub-Saharan Africa, will be available for download from the GIEWS web site, and included as occasional data inserts into the new publication.
