FOODCROPS and SHORTAGES Foodcrops and Shortages, and Food Supply Situation and Crop Prospects in sub-Saharan Africa, will henceforth be consolidated into a new publication, Crop Prospects and Food Situation, which will be issued in four languages and print as well as electronic format, six times per year. In addition to a short global cereal supply and demand brief, the new publication will continue to provide regional cereal balances and overviews of the food security situation, including a list of countries in crisis requiring external assistance. It will also contain tables on the cereal import position of low-income food deficit countries, as well as timely special features. To allow for more frequent updates, the country-by-country assessments of food security previously presented in Foodcrops and Shortages will henceforth be found in the Workstation, accessible through the GIEWS web site.
