First Meeting of the INSOILFER Working Groups
The International Network on Soil Fertility and Fertilizers (INSOILFER) is one of the seven technical networks coordinated by the FAO Global Soil Partnership (GSP). INSOILFER was launched in July 2023 at a virtual event. INSOILFER aims to adopt and implement sustainable soil fertility management, avoid the underuse, misuse and overuse of fertilizers, and reduce the environmental and health impacts of fertilizer use.
At the network launch, the following steps were established to make the network operational:
- Formation of the three thematic working groups.
- First meeting of the working groups to establish goals, a general workplan and governance.
- Website construction. Make the network grow.
Following up on the actions indicated in the launching of the network, the first meeting of the INSOILFER working groups was held from November 27 to 29, 2023. These kick-off meetings allowed the members to share their knowledge, discuss and endorse the general workplan, the governance (Chair and Voce-Chairs), and the Technical Committees.
