GSP fifth Plenary Assembly | Working documents available in all languages

The Fifth Plenary Assembly (PA) of the Global Soil Partnership (GSP) will be held from 20 to 22 June 2017 at FAO headquarters in Rome. It will be the occasion for member countries, GSP partners and observers to review and prioritize GSP actions while facilitating a fruitful regional decision-making process.

While the official notification to interested partners has been delivered through established channels, the agenda and all documents of the 5th session of the GSP Plenary Assembly are now available for online consultation.

The main highlights for the 5th PA session are: 

1. the work done by the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS) and its roadmap for 2017-2018;

2. the GSP work programme for 2016-2017 and the consideration of progress reports in relation to key dimensions of GSP, in particular the presentation, execution and finalization of the Implementation Plans under the five GSP Pillars;

3. GSP-induced activities, such as the establishment of the International Network on Black Soils under Pillar 2 (technical cooperation) and the progressive organization of Regional Soil Partnerships through Regional Implementation Plans (RIPs);

4. the communication campaign related to World Soil Day future celebrations and the award of the 2017 Glinka World Soil Prize, always under Pillar 2 (awareness Raising).

Great progress is also expected to be achieved also under Pillar 4 (Information and Data), which includes, among others, the establishment of the Global Soil Information System (GloSIS), the official endorsement of the International Network of Soil Information Institutions (INSII), the selection of the INSII Chair, the review and approval of the GSP Data Policy, and the selection of the GSP Soil Data Facility (SDF).
