José Calzada Rovirosa, Secretary of Agriculture, recently stated that food production in recent years has increased from 162 million tons to 282 million tons, representing a 74% growth rate.

He added that, considering a general assessment, thanks to the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), other major advances have also been made, including an increase from 5.3 million to 7 million people dedicated to production in the field, in addition to the incorporation of more women and young entrepreneurs.
