Cuban institutions convened in this capital for the 2018 19th National Meeting of Historical Sugar Heritage (PHA according to its acronym in Spanish), scheduled for November in the province of Holguin. The event is intended to promote historical research and recovery of the physical heritage, evaluate the results of the group's management over the last year, and contribute to training.

Each attendee can participate with topics related to the background and culture of the country’s agro-industrial sugar sector, specifically in relation to the historical figure of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. The new edition of the event is part of the program for recovery, conservation, dissemination, and education of the historical sugar heritage, which includes the physical heritage, historical memory and the promotion of sugar culture.
