The II Inter-Sectoral Meeting of the Central American Agricultural Council (CAC) is being held in the Caribbean country.

The Ministers of Agriculture of the Central American Agricultural Council (CAC) met on Tuesday in the Dominican Republic, which currently holds the semiannual presidency of the Central American Integration System (SICA according to its acronym in Spanish).
At the meeting held in the tourist town of Punta Cana (east), officials discussed various issues, including reviewing the Annual Work Plan for 2018 and SICA's Regional Social Protection and Productive Inclusion Agenda.
At the meeting's opening, Ángel Estévez, the local Minister of Agriculture, told his colleagues that if Central America is to strengthen its agricultural industry, "we all have to make it our goal to adopt cooperative systems, sharing information and keeping our countries united, in order to meet the demand for local food, thereby boosting exports."
