The facilities to obtain loans at low interest rates with preferential terms provided by the government of President Juan Orlando Hernández has strengthened the agricultural sector.

As part of the Honduran National Development Program 20/20, the government identified the agricultural and agroindustrial sectors among the key sectors for national development, with priority access to credit.

Mauricio Guevara, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG according to its acronym in Spanish), said that "the President of the Republic, Juan Orlando Hernandez, has prioritized and provided full and unconditional support to the agricultural sector."
