National sensitization seminar in Côte d'Ivoire

The Sensitization Seminar for CountrySTAT Côte d' Ivoire took place at Hotel Malthus in Agboville from 12 to 14 August 2013.

Purpose of the seminar was to facilitate the dialogue between producers and users of data on agriculture, forestry and livestock, fisheries and environmental statistics. During the seminar, the participants discussed about their needs and how the data collection methods could respond to these needs.

The National Focal Point Mr Gabriel Kouame gave an overview on the CountrySTAT system and its features. He highlighted the progress of CountrySTAT in Côte d' Ivoire amongst others the meeting of the Technical Working Group, the official launch, and the upload of more than 100 tables to the National CountrySTAT website of Côte d' Ivoire. Furthermore, he presented a tool for publishing and archiving data from the Census of Operators and Agricultural Holdings.

In conclusion it can be said that the seminar provided an excellent opportunity for key players in the national statistical system to discuss their roles and mandates in the production of agricultural data. A framework for collaboration between the different structures of the national agricultural statistical system was initiated.
