Online communities of practice

Engage and learn with others engaged in Forest and Landscape Restoration (FLR). Join the online community of practice facilitated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and benefit from a community that:

  1. offers an online space for FLR practitioners, policy-makers, researchers and the private sector to find free technical advice and support for knowledge issues;
  2. organizes structured learning opportunities that respond to its members’ needs;
  3. supports innovation processes and collection of key knowledge resources and makes them widely available;
  4. increases interest in and communicates the value of FLR; and
  5. generates, tests, reviews and shares high-quality, relevant tools and knowledge documents.

This online community supports the global restoration movement in achieving its goals. As a member, you have access to:

  • webinars and the recorded videos
  • facilitated email-based exchanges – as often as you choose!
  • a network of FLR experts and practitioners
  • updates on job opportunities, events, news and knowledge resources.

Activities

The FLR online community of practice has already seen that the email exchanges and webinars are useful for practitioners. The Community has taken part in several online knowledge-sharing fora. The first forum, “Innovative approaches for monitoring forest and landscape restoration” hosted 420 participants and the second, “Forest and landscape restoration: Participatory approaches and monitoring” saw 800 persons take part from all over the world. Summaries of the activities can be found through the Dgroups platform.

If you only wish to hear about the webinar and activities, join the Mailing list - FAO webinars on Forest and Landscape Restoration.

Upcoming webinar and facilitated discussion

Other online activities continue, with the online knowledge-sharing forum on “Local finance for forest and landscape restoration” in November and December 2018.
