The Ninth Session of the Intergovernmental Technical Working Group for Animal Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture will be held at FAO Headquarters in Rome 6-8 July 2016. The Working Document on "Contribution of Livestock Species and Breeds to the Provision of Ecosystem Services" to be presented during the session, highlighted the work of the Incentives for Ecosystem Services from Agriculture (IES) programme to raise awareness of the use of incentives as a strategy to encourage farmers to protect and enhance ecosytsem services.

It also recognised the IES work to map and support a coordinated approach to public and private planning and investment in agricultural and environmental measures to offer a more integrated solution to livestock keepers.
