FAO Lao PDR: training on AIS assessment under the TAP-AIS project


In the context of the TAP-AIS project (2019-2024), a three-day training on the assessment of the Agriculture Innovation System (AIS) was organized in Vang Vieng, Vientiane Province, by FAO and the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) of Lao PDR on 12-14 January 2021.

The training was attended by 19 participants the first day and 12 participants the second and third day. Participants composition included members of the Project Steering Committee, led by the National Project Coordinator, Dr. Chansamone Phong Oudom, DDG of NAFRI, and trainees from relevant  departments of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (NAFRI, DOPLA, DTEAP, DALARM, DOPF), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National University of Laos, a network of producers and the NGO CLICK.

The training was organized in a mixed format (virtual and in-person). While the morning sessions focused on exercises/group work and reflection, the afternoon sessions were delivered by the Research and Extension Unit of  FAO in Rome (via Zoom), covering both conceptual and methodological part of the AIS Assessment.

At the end of the training, participants expressed their appreciation and happiness for joining the training and they found the training very relevant to their work.

 The AIS assessment in Lao PDR will conclude in April 2021.
