Celebrating International Women's Day 2021: the women of the TAP-AIS project

The United Nations are celebrating  International Women’s Day when almost every country in the world is dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. A pandemic that has seen that women are nearly twice as likely than men to lose their jobs during the COVID-19 crisis. Certainly, the pandemic will dramatically increase the poverty rate for women and widen the gap between men and women who live in poverty.

The United Nations are working to amplify women’s voices and promote their participation and leadership in all sectors. Women play an important role, especially in developing countries, in the conservation of the natural environment. In agriculture, women workers are playing an important role in strengthening capacities to innovate in national agricultural innovation systems (AIS) in the context of climate-relevant, productive, and sustainable transformation of agriculture and food systems. Like this success story from CDAIS project in Burkina Faso.

Today, we want to take a moment to thank all those men and women who are working to reach a more fair, just and equal world for women.

A special thanks to all the women of the TAP-AIS project, on this International Women’s Day!
