Outcomes of the World Summit and food security in Sierra Leone
Recently, Samuel Valcassell of UN Radio in Freetown (Sierra Leone), interviewed FAO Representative in Sierra Leone and B.R. Sen Award , Mr Kevin Gallagher , on the outcomes of the World Summit on Food Security, held in Rome on 16 ¿ 18 November 2009. Mr Gallagher also talked about other issues dealing with food security in Sierra Leone. Here is the 3 part-interview:
1) ¿We look now forward to improving the quality of food around Sierra Leone, so that it will be more available in the country markets¿
2) ¿Of course the Summit was there to raise interest. In my opinion it should have recognized all of the funds that have come in the last two years rather than calling for new funds¿
3) ¿Over the last two years there has been a process pushed by FAO in order to support the National Sustainable Agriculture Development Plan and to put in practice biofuel policies in the country¿
