For rural women and men, land ownership is crucial to support agriculture production and to ensure the food and economic security of their households. Secure ownership and control of land also has an important positive effect on women’s empowerment: secure land tenure is associated with higher levels of investment and productivity in agriculture, which in turn lead to higher income and greater economic well-being for women and their households.
