Coopération Sud-Sud et coopération triangulaire

UN Day for South-South Cooperation & Global South-South Development expo

02/09/2022 -

For the sixth consecutive year, the Rome Based Agencies (RBAs) are jointly organizing the celebration of the UN Day for South-South Cooperation (UN Day for SSC) – an annual event marked on 12 September 2022. This year, the UN Day for SSC also coincides with the Global South-South Development expo (GSSD-Expo), 12-14 September 2022, Bangkok, Thailand.

They will use the occasion to present a joint field-level collaboration in South-South and Triangular Cooperation, in support of national home-grown school meals programmes, in line with the School Meals Coalition and the outcome of the UN Food Systems Summit.

South-South and Triangular Cooperation can play a pivotal role in helping countries find innovative solutions to address their development challenges and support their national commitments for the School Meals Coalition.

By leveraging their strengths, the three UN Rome-based Agencies are in a unique position to support countries in addressing their food security challenges through SSTC.

In addition to the RBAs’ Celebrations, the FAO Regional Office for Asia and Pacific (RAP) and the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM), are also jointly organizing a workshop to highlight key aspects of Conservation Agriculture (CA) and the latest CA developments in the Asia-Pacific region. The workshop is being organized as a thematic solution forum of the GSSD-Expo, with a view to promoting knowledge-sharing on CA practices and solutions amongst partners and highlighting the potential of SSTC in establishing a network of CA professionals and practitioners, as well as facilitating the exchange of technical knowhow, policies and practices within and beyond the Asia-Pacific region.

SSTC enables the sharing of knowledge, experiences, technologies, resources among countries in the Global South. It has an important role to play in sharing and bringing effective approaches for more sustainable and inclusive agrifood systems.
