02/03/2017

Hanoi, Viet Nam. FAO Viet Nam in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) organized the 2nd Consultation Workshop on the formulation of FAO Country Programming Framework (CPF) 2017-2020 with participants from FAO's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (FAORAP), FAO Viet Nam and representatives from departments and agencies of MARD and Ministry of Health (MOH).

“We highly appreciate FAO’s technical assistance as it supports the implementation of Viet Nam’s Socio-Economic Development Plan, the National Target Programme on New Rural Development and especially the restructuring of the agricultural and rural development sector,” said Chu Van Chuong, Deputy Director General of MARD's International Cooperation Department.

The FAO Country Programming Framework (CPF) presents a big strategic picture of the FAO country programme over five years, in order to strengthen the focus, effectiveness and impact of the programme in supporting the development goals of the country. “We will ensure that the new CPF will be a practical framework to support the development of Viet Nam. Through the formulation and implementation of the new CPF for 2017-2021, we hope the collaboration between FAO and the Government of Viet Nam will be stronger and more effective,” said Daniel Shallon, the Regional CPF Coordinator from FAORAP.

“Following our successful collaboration for the implementation of the first CPF for 2012 - 2016, FAO will coordinate closely with the Government of Viet Nam to ensure that the formulation of the new CPF will support the government’s objectives and ultimately contribute to food security, sustainable agriculture, poverty reduction, inclusive growth, and improved resilience for the country” said JongHa Bae, the FAO Country Representative in Viet Nam.
