The Pacific branch of the Federal State Budget Scientific Institution “Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and oceanography” is a Russian research institution focused on fisheries and oceanography in the Russian Far East. It was established in 1934 and is involved in studying aquatic biological resources, conducting research on fishing methods, and providing scientific support for the rational use of marine resources.
Since 2019, the Institute, along with other fisheries research organizations under the Federal Agency for Fisheries, has been reorganized and merged into the VNIRO system as a branch, in accordance with the Order of the Minister of Agriculture, D.N. Patrushev.
The main areas of TINRO’s activities are:
- Conservation and sustainable use of aquatic biological resources in the Russian Federation
- Ensuring the country’s food security.
