One of the main tasks of the Institute of Fisheries Ecology is to use research and monitoring to identify changes in the marine environment at an early stage and to assess their impact on the potential use of living resources. Alternative use concepts are also playing an increasingly important role, particularly in the context of the development of sustainable production processes in marine and inland aquaculture. The Institute of Fisheries Ecology's areas of work include the marine environment, biodiversity and migratory fish, as well as aquaculture.
