The University of Oviedo is the public higher education and research institution of the Principality of Asturias. With more than 410 years of history, located in the city of Oviedo (Asturias, Spain), with campuses in Oviedo, Gijón and Mieres.
The creation of the University of Oviedo was possible thanks to Fernando de Valdés, Archbishop of Seville. The academic institution was born under the patronage of King Felipe III, which was inaugurated in 1608.
