Tropical Agricultural Center for Research and Higher Education (Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza – CATIE) — The Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza is an international, regional center based in Turrialba focused on research, education, and innovation in tropical agriculture, forestry, and natural resource management. Founded in 1942, CATIE offers graduate programs, conducts applied research, and provides technical assistance to governments, institutions, and communities across Latin America and the Caribbean. Its mission is to promote sustainable development, improve agricultural productivity, and enhance the management of tropical ecosystems through science, training, and knowledge exchange.
