NPKGRIDS data components
02/12/2025
Three new datasets have been published on the Agro-informatics Platform within the Crops and Vegetation channel. The data provides information on the NPKGRIDS dataset components.
The NPKGRIDS is a global georeferenced dataset at 0.05° resolution providing application rates for nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P₂O₅), and potassium (K₂O) fertilizers across 173 crops as of 2020.
NPKGRIDS was developed through a data fusion approach integrating crop mask information from CROPGRIDS with nutrient-specific data quality and best-source indicators, compiled from either georeferenced data or national and subnational statistics.
The " Potassium application rate" reports potash fertilizer as oxide-based application rates calculated as kilograms of K2O per hectare of crop harvested area (kg-K2O ha−1).
The "Phosphorus application rate" reports phosphate fertilizer as oxide-based application rates calculated as kilograms of P2O5 per hectare of crop harvested area (kg-P2O5 ha−1).
The "Nitrogen application rate" reports the synthetic Nitrogen fertilizer application rates calculated as kilograms of N per hectare of crop harvested area (kg-N ha−1).
