FAO Brief: Insights from the 2023 World Food Forum Week

The 2023 Science and Innovation Forum has come to an end, leaving the world with a renewed sense of hope and purpose. The discussions, collaborations, and innovations that unfolded during this event have ignited a spark in the global scientific community, compelling us to work collectively towards a brighter, more sustainable future. 

In the wake of these decisive events that brought together experts, scientists, policymakers, and innovators from around the globe, FAO has produced a special edition of its podcase series “FAO Brief”. This exclusive episode is dedicated to capturing the essence of the 2023 World Food Day, World Food Forum, UN Global Indigenous Youth Forum and Science and Innovation Forum, featuring prominent voices such as the one of Najat Mokhtar, Deputy Director General and head of the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). 

‘AI will give us information on how we can improve the way we are doing our work on food security but also predict the future’ she says. And then she adds ‘Nuclear technology like any other technique can be applied in the field, offering the technology to increase plant breeding, to enhance the quality of soil, to better manage water, to ensure food safety and animal health and other aspects of food.’
