The FAO Virtual Learning Centers (VLC) has announced the launch of self-paced virtual course dedicated to addressing one of the most pressing concerns in the poultry industry: avian influenza (AI). Tailored for diverse stakeholders, including veterinarians, veterinary paraprofessionals, and other professionals working in the poultry industries, this introductory course aims to enhance awareness and expertise in AI detection and prevention.

With six concise modules, each lasting between fifteen to twenty minutes, the course provides crucial knowledge on AI to ensure a well-rounded understanding of this highly contagious disease. Throughout the course, learners will delve into the global impact of AI, explore its transmission in both domestic and wild birds, learn to identify its clinical signs, gain insights into investigation methods for suspected cases, explore preventive strategies, and understand various control measures.

This course champions convenience and flexibility, allowing learners to engage at their own pace. Its structure ensures ease of reference when needed and compatibility across smartphones, computers, or tablets, facilitating seamless accessibility across multiple platforms.

To broaden its reach, the course is slated for release in Portuguese and Spanish on the FAO Capacitación platform in the upcoming months, ensuring accessibility to a more diverse global community.
