FAO Representative for Bhutan
Mr Ken Shimizu is the FAO Country Representative for Bhutan since July 2021. He has 25 years of experience in international development, agricultural and rural development and environmental management, working for United Nations agencies such as FAO, UNDP, and UNCRD. He has extensive field experience in developing countries, with long-term assignments in Bhutan, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Indonesia, East Timor, and Jamaica (Caribbean), in addition to missions to several Asian countries (Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Lao PDR, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand), Caribbean and Pacific Island countries.
Ken is a national of Japan, and holds a Masters in Environmental Planning from Cornell University in the USA.
