Commission consultations on plant genetic resources to commence in May

On the occasion of the Commission’s last session, FAO launched the draft Third Report on the State of the World’s Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. 

In response to the findings of the report, the Commission and its Working Group will review and update the Second Global Plan of Action for Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (Second GPA).

In the course of 2024, regional consultations of National Focal Points will be held, in cooperation with the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, to facilitate the review of the Second GPA.

The consultation for Africa will be held from 7 to 9 May 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya, the regional consultation for Latin America and the Caribbean from 21 to 23 May 2024 in Cali, Colombia.

Dates and venues of the consultations in the other regions will be announced in due time.
