Wuhan, 23 October 2025 — FAO teams from the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP), FAO China and Headquarters engaged with thousands of young professionals across China during the 6th United Nations Job Fair, held in Wuhan and Guangzhou from 23 to 29 October. The event, sponsored by the China Scholarship Council and co-organized by Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, gathered 21 UN agencies and over 3,000 students from more than 50 universities across China. The fair was widely covered by national media and university websites.

Suzhou, 17 October 2025 - The 34th China Chefs Festival and the 2025 China Culinary and Catering Expo officially opened today at the Suzhou International Expo Center. This year’s festival took place just one day after World Food Day and the 80th anniversary of FAO’s founding, providing a fitting moment to reflect on collective efforts to transform agrifood systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life for all.

Beijing, 16/10/2025– China joined the global observance of the 45th World Food Day (WFD) today, celebrated under the theme “Hand in hand for better food, and a better future.” This year’s commemoration also marks the 80th anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Beijing, 16 October 2025 – At the 2025 Belt and Road International Agricultural Equipment and Smart Agricultural Technology Innovation Conference held in Beijing, Carlos Aldeco, FAO Representative in China, emphasized the critical role of agricultural mechanization in transforming global agrifood systems and hailed South-South cooperation initiatives, such as the newly launched China-Brazil Joint Laboratory.

Shanghai, 15 October 2025 — The Conference on Import & Export Food Safety Cooperation of the Belt and Road (2025) was held in Shanghai, hosted by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) under the theme “Deepen International Cooperation for Shared Trade Safety and Facilitation.” The event gathered representatives from 21 Belt and Road partner countries, international organizations, and national food safety authorities.

Mr. Carlos Aldeco, FAO Representative in China and DPR Korea, addressed the opening session, emphasizing that “if it is not safe, it is not food.” He highlighted that robust food safety and quality control systems are fundamental to protecting health, fostering fair trade, and achieving sustainable agrifood systems.

Beijing, 14 October 2025 - FAO China played an active role, contributing to key sessions on food loss reduction and gender-inclusive innovation. Hangzhou, 22 September 2025 – The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) joined global partners at the Fifth World Congress of Biosphere Reserves (WCBR), convened under UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme. Urumqi, 10 September 2025 – The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Xinjiang Agricultural University, officially launched the Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) project “High-efficiency breeding and quality management of the sheep industry in Xinjiang”.

Beijing, 9 September 2025 – A global capacity-building workshop on Food Loss and Waste (FLW) Reduction through FAO’s South-South and Triangular Cooperation is taking place this week in Beijing, with the participation of eight countries to exchange knowledge, practices, and innovations in curbing food loss and waste across the agrifood systems.

Beijing, 1 September 2025 — The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representation in China met with the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center (FECO) of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) to explore avenues for deepening collaboration on sustainable development and environmental protection.

Yinchuan, 29 August 2025 — As part of the 7th China–Arab States Expo, the Modern Agriculture Matchmaking and Exchange Conference was successfully held at the Yinchuan International Exchange Center. The event brought together government officials, representatives of international organizations, scholars, and business leaders from China and Arab countries to discuss agricultural trade, technology cooperation, and sustainable development.

On Aug. 12, the opening ceremony of the Youth Action on Green Agri-Heritage: Global Cultural Symbiosis officially began in Shanghai, coinciding with International Youth Day. The event was designed to connect China’s agricultural cultural heritage and global youth-driven innovation via field visits, international youth roundtable dialogues, co-creation camps designed to inspire young participants through collaborative practice and nurture a new generation of creators with global communication influence with the involvement of renowned visual design mentors that infuse the events with diverse artistic perspectives, and other endeavors.

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representative in China, Carlos Aldeco, recently visited project sites of the FAO–Global Environment Facility (GEF) initiative “On-farm Conservation and Sustainable Use of Genetic Diversity of Crops Originated in China” in Zhangbei County, Xuanhua District and Chongli County, to review project progress and explore ways to replicate and scale up successful practices.

The Fourth International Agricultural Market and Trade Forum, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) of China, Tsinghua University, and the Bank of China, gathered over 270 participants from across the globe at Tsinghua University. 

At the International Conference on Reducing Food Loss and Waste, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) emphasized the urgent need for collective action to combat food loss and waste, which continue to pose a significant challenge to food security, sustainability, and climate action. 

At the final round of the inaugural Global Development Public Policy Youth Innovation Contest, unveiled on 21 July 2025 at Renmin University of China, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in China joined youth participants, policy experts, and academic institutions in supporting youth-driven solutions to food security and poverty eradication — two of the most fundamental and urgent challenges in global development.
