Wuhan, 23 October 2025 — FAO teams from the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP), FAO China and Headquarters engaged with thousands of young professionals across China during the 6th United Nations Job Fair, held in Wuhan and Guangzhou from 23 to 29 October. The event, sponsored by the China Scholarship Council and co-organized by Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, gathered 21 UN agencies and over 3,000 students from more than 50 universities across China. The fair was widely covered by national media and university websites.

Shanghai, 15 October 2025 — The Conference on Import & Export Food Safety Cooperation of the Belt and Road (2025) was held in Shanghai, hosted by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) under the theme “Deepen International Cooperation for Shared Trade Safety and Facilitation.” The event gathered representatives from 21 Belt and Road partner countries, international organizations, and national food safety authorities.

Mr. Carlos Aldeco, FAO Representative in China and DPR Korea, addressed the opening session, emphasizing that “if it is not safe, it is not food.” He highlighted that robust food safety and quality control systems are fundamental to protecting health, fostering fair trade, and achieving sustainable agrifood systems.

On Aug. 12, the opening ceremony of the Youth Action on Green Agri-Heritage: Global Cultural Symbiosis officially began in Shanghai, coinciding with International Youth Day. The event was designed to connect China’s agricultural cultural heritage and global youth-driven innovation via field visits, international youth roundtable dialogues, co-creation camps designed to inspire young participants through collaborative practice and nurture a new generation of creators with global communication influence with the involvement of renowned visual design mentors that infuse the events with diverse artistic perspectives, and other endeavors.

At the final round of the inaugural Global Development Public Policy Youth Innovation Contest, unveiled on 21 July 2025 at Renmin University of China, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in China joined youth participants, policy experts, and academic institutions in supporting youth-driven solutions to food security and poverty eradication — two of the most fundamental and urgent challenges in global development.
